I'm not very far in my book, but the main character has already change a bit. In the beginning of the book Katie was very closed off, and didn't say much to anyone. She had moved to this small town in North Carolina from Gorgia and didn't know very many people. She worked at a small fish shack called Ivan's and didn't say much their either. She went to a local store a lot and met the owner named Alex and his daughter Kristen. In the book you could tell Alex was interested in Katie but Katie was not all that interested. Alex would try to make small talk but could tell that Katie would get uncomfortable when he asked her to many questions.
When Kristen started talking to Katie she began to open up more. She was always very friendly but now she carried on a conversation. When Kristen told her dad, Alex, that she made a friend named, Miss Katie, he started talking to her more and she was more comfortable with him. Katie's neighbor , Jo, also started to get more out of Katie, like why she had moved to the small town. I think Katie will open up more throughout the book as she gets closer to Jo, Alex and his kids and we will find more about her past and why she really moved to the small town. Considering that the title of the book is "Safe Haven" I'm assuming something bad happened to her and the past and she moved to the small town to get away from something.

Safe Haven Blog
I chose to read Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks because l saw the movie last year and I really liked it. I also enjoy romantic books so I knew I would like both the movie and the book. Nicholas Sparks is an amazing author and does a great job of pulling the reader in. Last year I read his books Dear John and The Notebook and I couldn't put them down. They were so well written that once you started reading you didn't want to stop. I'm not a big reader but if I read a book I like I will finish it very quickly, I'm hoping I will feel the same way about Safe Haven. I have only read a little bit in Safe Haven but what I have read so far the movie and the book are very similar. In the beginning the movie is set up differently than the book but that is so the people will understand more of what's happening. I'm assuming the book and the movie will be similar as I read more in the book, I hope it is because the movie was amazing.
If you have read the book, how would you rate the book out of 5? Is it as good as the movie?

Love & Haight
My summer reading book was Love and Haight by Susan Carlton. It was an interesting novel about a teenage girl, Chloe, who got pregnant and wanted an abortion. Over their winter break her and her best friend, MJ went to Chloe's Aunt Kikis apartment in San Francisco. Chloe didn't tell anyone about her being pregnant but MJ and later on in the book Kiki found out. Over the summer Chloe was dating MJ's brother, Teddy, MJ never knew about that summer until she saw her and Teddy hugging as she walked inside the apartment. A huge fight broke out, and MJ told everything about Chloe to Teddy, and Teddy told everything about him and Chloe to MJ. Eventually Chloe called her mother and told her the truth, her mom went to San Francisco as soon as she could. At the end of the book she finally got an abortion and her, Teddy and MJ were all friends again.
I think that mostly girls would enjoy this book. Although it does have some mystery in it, it includes romance, love, drama, and daring. Considering those I definitely think girls would like it much more than guys. If I were to rate this book i would give a 3 out of 5, it was a good book and I enjoyed reading it but sometimes I think there were details in the book that didn't have to be. It would have also been nice if you could have more background information since the book was taken place in 1971 and a lot of things has changed think than. Over all i would suggest that if you like romantic or daring book you would enjoy this book.
