Author Information- Nicholas Sparks

Nicholas Sparks Books

Since I have just started a new book, The Choice. I am going to write my blog this week on the author, Nicholas Sparks. Sparks is known as the worlds bestselling author of love stories. He has sold over 89 million copies of his books and has seven #1 New York Times bestsellers. Out of the 17 novels he has written 7 of them have be turned into movie including The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, Message in a Bottle, Dear John, Nights in Rodanthe, The Last Song and The Lucky One. Sparks gets his inspiration for the heart string pulling love stories from experiences in his own life, for example A Walk to Remember was written to mirror how his sister died at a young age of just 33. Even though most of his novels are geared more towards women he says "Writing is an art,but publishing is a business. I have to have a theme that appeals to a lot of people.".

Growing Up and Family

Nicholas Sparks was born on December 31, 1965. Sparks was one of three children including him, his brother and his sister. His family moved around a lot because his father was finishing up his graduate work. They finally settled in, in Fair Oaks, California where Sparks became the  class valedictorian. Sparks went to college at the University of Notre Dame where he ran track for them his freshman year and wasn't able to continue do to an Achilles tendon injury. Since he wasn't able to run he took up writing. Years later he graduated with honors and met his future wife, Catherine. They married the following two year later. His writing career still hadn't kicked off yet but he was determined no matter what, that when he wrote The Notebook. Within a short period of time he got a book deal and a $1 million dollar movie contract. That was just the start of him becoming a best selling author. Today he lives Sparks lives in New Bern, North Carolina with his wife and five children: Miles, Ryan, Landon, Lexie, and Savannah.

Safe Haven Book Review

I really enjoyed Safe Haven, I'm not one to read books quickly but I flew through Safe Haven in 4 days. I could hardly put the book down, I could honestly say it was one of my favorite books. If I were to rate this book I would give it a 5 out of 5. I would give it a 5 out of 5 because Nicholas Sparks knew how to draw the reader in and add suspense to the book along with a love story. I would suggest this book mainly to any girl who enjoys Nicholas Sparks books about two people that find love or someone who likes intense books as well.
If you are considering reading Safe Haven her is a quick summary of it with out giving anything away. Even if you have already seen the movie I still suggest you read the book because its a lot different and ten times better. In the beginning it starts out with Erin making dinner for her husband, Kevin. Kevin started to yell at her like always and abuse her, she could never tell the police on him because he was the police. Eventually she got up the courage to go and leave him while he was out of town. She went to a small town in North Carolina and met a man named Alex along with his two kids. She began to tell him her story about Kevin and her running away and he promised to keep her safe. But Kevin missed Erin so much and couldn't bare to like without her, that's when he began his search for her. He tracker her down to where she was living and he headed to North Carolina. Which was exactly where he found her with Alex and his two kids. He grew angrier as time went by and was more drunk then ever. If you would like to find out what happened next I would suggest you to read Safe Haven.
