If you happened to have read my previous post Most Important Line from The Lucky One you should already know the story behind the picture. But that picture hasn't gone away yet... and I'm not quiet sure it will anytime soon. Anyway that picture of Elizabeth plays a huge role in the theme (I mean it has to, without that picture there would be no story). Logan's friend had told him that it was his destiny to find the girl that was in the picture, Logan thought that was non sense at first... but look where he is now... coincidence, I think not! With that I think the theme of The Lucky One is to go with your fate or destiny and don't fight it or deny it. I think that part of Logan walking from Colorado to North Carolina was doing just that, going with the flow I guess you could say- not overthinking just doing. I think this is the main theme that that is guiding Sparks decision within the plot because without the picture there would be no story and without him going to look for the women in the picture there would be no story. Also this picture does both pull them closer when Elizabeth doesn't know he has the picture and pull them apart when Elizabeth finds out that Logan has a picture of her- not just any picture, the picture of her that she gave to her brother while he was serving in Iraq. I mean come on if you were in her position wouldn't you be a little creeped out too? I sure would be. I have a feeling this theme will keep playing a role in the story since I'm assuming Logan and Elizabeth will end up together in the end because it is there destiny to be together!! :o)

I read this book and saw the movie, and I couldn't agree with you more. You are totally right in everything you said, especially about the picture and destiny. This is probably one of my favorite Sparks books:)
